About heather agnew & Yoga Trinity

Your course facilitator, Heather Agnew is an internationally recognized ERYT (Senior Yoga teacher), Master PFT (Fitness Professional), and lifestyle consultant with over 15 years experience in traditional fitness and Pilates training, energetic healing modalities, and many classical and modern Yoga styles.

Since starting on her path in Yoga, Heather has studied Sivananda Yoga, Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, Satyananda Yoga, Vinyasa, and Mukti Yoga. As well Heather draws inspiration from Usui Ryoho Reiki, The Energetic Healing, Lotus Palm Thai Yoga Massage, Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy, the Tarot, Ayurveda, Hermetics, and the teachings of the Rosicrucian Order.

In integrating these experiences, Heather has designed a Yoga Teacher Training program to contain both the richness and spirit of ancient teachings, as well as the accessibility and functionality of modern Yoga styles. Trinity Vinyasa Flow Yoga reflects this integration in a methodology that leads each individual to his or her own unique and powerful experience of the goal of Yoga, oneness with the Divine Self.

Heather brings to the program a strong intent to educate, inspire, and empower teacher trainees to develop a strong foundation of knowledge and experience in the fundamentals of Yoga technique and philosophy, while revealing their own unique gifts, wisdom, and talents as a teacher and practitioner of Yoga.

FAQ’S

What Does “Registered” yoga teacher mean?

Upon graduation from the Trinity Yoga Teacher Training program you will be eligible to obtain registration with Yoga Alliance at the 200-hour level. This will allow you to use the initials “RYI” (Registered Yoga teacher) after your name. Our programs are also registered with Yoga Australia (formerly YTAA), and completion of both Level I and 2 modules of our Continuing Education Series automatically gives you access to Full Membership at the 350 hour level. You can register with Yoga Australia with a “provisional membership” with our Level I program, which is 280 hours, and you have three years to upgrade to the 350-hour level.

There are hundreds of programs that you can take to upgrade to this level of training, including the Yoga Trinity programs; Ayurveda & Yoga Therapy, Adjusting, Assisting & Partner Yoga, Core Yoga, and Thai Yoga Massage. As well, many students can register in full with YTAA after completion of Level I if you have other training in fitness, yoga, massage or anatomy.

Registration is fairly new in the Yoga industry, but an important part of this rapidly evolving service business. As Yoga becomes more popular, our students become better informed and more sophisticated as consumers. It is important for our students to know that we have completed a basic level of training that gives us the skills and knowledge necessary to provide safe and effective Yoga classes, and to offer the philosophies, teachings and techniques of Yoga in a way that is accessible and practical for the modern life. Registration tells your students that you have achieved this essential level of training, and that you are committed to enhancing the health and wellbeing of your students, and educating them in the ancient art and science of Yoga.

Can I get insurance to teach yoga

Upon graduation you will be able to access inexpensive public and professional risk liability insurance as a teacher. To operate your own Yoga business professional liability insurance is essential to protect you and your students in case of loss or injury. If you choose to work for a studio, gym or educational or government institution you may be covered on their policy. It is your responsibility as a teacher to ensure that coverage is provided for each class or private session that you instruct. A few companies that offer cover include: AON Insurance, OAMPS Insurance, Vero Insurance. To qualify for professional liability insurance you must be registered with Yoga Australia, Yoga Alliance, or another yoga-related organization.

Can I Teach Yoga Right Away After Taking This Course?

Absolutely. Once you have completed all four modules of training as well as your written and practical exams, which are included in Module 4, you can register as a Yoga Teacher, obtain professional insurance, and begin teaching. Many of our grads have gone on to start their own studios/yoga businesses, while others have chosen to teach for someone else, or teach Corporate or private classes. Additional training and study is important to continue to develop your skills and your understanding of the philosophies and technique of Yoga. But, one of the very best ways to learn is to teach.

Do I Have To Be Able To Do All The Yoga Poses To Become a Yoga teacher?

Students interested in joining a Yoga Teacher Training program often ask me this question, and the answer is quite simple. If you have found Yoga to be an important part of your life and your personal growth, if you have a sincere desire to learn, and if you are passionate about bringing all the rewards and experiences of Yoga to others, than you are a suitable candidate to become a Yoga Teacher. The process of teacher training will help you to deepen your practice, and perhaps this means that you will be able to achieve more advanced yoga postures as a result, but keep in mind that Yoga is not just about the poses, but about a state of mind and a state of being that is inclusive, accepting, compassionate and loving. We have had students of ages from 20 to 68 successfully complete the course and go on to become inspiring and successful teachers. To be able to demonstrate the Yoga asanas is important, but does not exclude teachers of differing levels of skill and ability. What is most important is that you can demonstrate the fundamental principles of Yoga on and off the mat.

What if I Don’t Want to Become A yoga teacher?

Many students come to Teacher Training to simply deepen their own practice and knowledge of the rich teachings of Yoga. Having said that, many of these students discover during the process that they do have a desire to become teachers, but this is not essential. Our pre-requisite for the course is that students have a committed practice and a sincere desire to learn, what you do with your new wisdom and experience is up to you.

What if I Can’t Complete The Course?

There are some circumstances in life that we cannot predict, and if an obstacle comes up in your life that causes you to have to discontinue your studies, we can work together to try to assist you in completing the course at another time. This will be dealt with on a “case by case” basis, but know that we will accommodate our teacher training students to the best of our ability.

What Does The Daily Schedule Look Like?

Breakfast Break
9:30-12:00pm Lecture (subjects like anatomy, teaching skills, philosophy etc)

Accommodation and most meals are included in the price. To see details, read the Accommodation & Meals section.

Can I Take Just One Module At A Time and in different cities?

Absolutely. We have created the Flex-Schedule program because we understand that not everyone can take a month off of work and family responsibilities to undertake training. You can take just one module near Melbourne to deepen your practice and begin to explore yoga, then take the other modules in different cities at times that work for you. Please discuss with your course coordinator or directly with Heather to plan a schedule that suits your life best.

yoga teacher training feedback

"I would do this Yoga Teacher Training again! I have had such a wonderful, inspiring journey this last month. At my age and the place I am in at this moment you have given me the opportunity to extend my horizons with confidence and a greater understanding of my love of yoga. Awesome!"
Victoria N Trinity Certified Yoga Teacher

"This course was excellent. It challenged me and I know it challenged my teacher due to my lack of knowledge and personal awareness of how this practice of yoga would challenge my mental and psychological foundations, let alone my physical challenges. I gained an immense amount of knowledge that I gratefully take back with me into the next stage of my life over this next six months. My heartfelt appreciation and thanks for allowing me to take this journey with you and supporting me."
Astrid R Trinity Certified Yoga Instructor

"Yoga Trinity Teacher Training was a fantastic opportunity to explore my own yoga practice and to develop the necessary skills for safely teaching and sharing yoga with others. The best part of the experience was having the opportunity to really be myself, and Heather helped to make that possible by holding a nurturing and non-judgemental space for all of her students. We were encouraged to discover our individual gifts - I felt a great sense of empowerment upon completion of the course."
