central highlands school of massage courses
The Central Highlands School of Massage was created in 1998 by Norm Beshara to facilitate the growing need for well-trained local masseurs in this region. The massage courses are ideal for people looking for a change in career or a skill to enjoy with family and friends. Currently, all courses are offered in Hepburn Springs, Victoria, at Hepburn Retreat Centre.
You can find more details about Norm and his massage services at http://beshara.com.au/.
Relaxation Massage Course
This massage course will be conducted over 7 weeks (one day per week) and students will have their hands on from the outset and all lecture notes will be provided. At the end of the seven week course students will be competent at performing full body relaxation massage.
The course aims are to teach students basic relaxation techniques in a comfortable and nurturing and professional environment. Using your own body as a tool is important in the art of massage particularly if masseurs lack the physical strength required for some of the deep tissue techniques. A Certificate of completion will be awarded to successful students.
Advanced Massage Course
This massage course will be conducted over 26days (one day per week). The course will be completed over a 26 week period allowing for school holiday breaks. Students for this course must have qualifications in massage or have massage experience.
Knowledge of anatomy would be an advantage. Students are instructed on the anatomy of muscles, its actions and pain patterns, which are specific to injured muscles, and includes instruction on accurate diagnosis and rehabilitation from injury. Students who successfully complete this course will receive a Certificate in Advanced Massage.
All assignments along with final practical and theory examinations are required to be successfully completed. Full attendance is a requirement for this course. All materials, oils, manuals and anatomy charts will be supplied by the school.
Students are required to bring 2 large towels, a pillow and a massage table if possible.
An Introduction to Massage
The introduction to massage course is performed with clothes on at all times. Learn to massage friends and family with this fun and interactive technique.
This is a non-invasive and therapeutic introduction to the healing arts. This is known as the roughing-up technique and is used by masseurs to help settle and relax clients prior to having their massage, though the name may suggest otherwise.
bowen therapy
The Central Highlands School of Massage is conducting a 1 day workshop for trained Bowen therapists. This is a great opportunity to brush up on skills and explore aspects of the technique that you may not have been aware of or maybe had forgotten.
It will be good to have like minded people come together and share information and perhaps introduce something new to the technique or a complimentary modality.
